How to set up Two-factor authentication for your iCloud Account?

iCloudNowadays, many people complain about their accounts getting hacked and it is not safe to use only a password for any of your accounts as it is easily susceptible to be hacked. However, you can always secure your account through Two-factor authentication which makes your account more secure and less prone to hackers.

Like other services, you can also set up two-factor authentication for your iCloud/Apple account as to make it more safe and secure and your data will also be safe and secure.

There are three methods to set up two-factor authentication for your iCloud Account. You can either do it directly from your iOS device or Mac or through any browser. So, let’s get started!

How to set up two-factor authentication for your iCloud Account?

For iOS devices(iPhone/iPad):

    1. Launch the Settings app on your iOS device.
    2. Tap on Apple ID Banner(Your Name).
    3. Tap on Password & Security.
    4. Turn On Two-Factor Authentication.

  1. Tap Continue.
  2. You might be asked to answer your Apple ID security questions.
  3. Afterward, you will be asked to enter your phone number which will be considered as a trusted number.
  4. Enter and verify your number.
  5. Two-factor authentication will now be enabled for your account.

For Mac:

  1. Go to Apple Menu.
  2. Then go to System Preferences > iCloud > Account Details.
  3. Click on Turn On Two-Factor Authentication.Two-factor authentication-Mac
  4. Two-factor authentication will now be enabled for your account.

From Browser:

  1. Go to https://appleid.apple.com.
  2. Sign in into your account using your Apple ID email and password.Two-factor authentication-iCloud-1
  3. In the Security section, click on Edit.Two-factor authentication-iCloud-2
  4. Then turn on the Two-factor authentication from there
  5. Two-factor authentication will now be enabled for your account.

By using any of the aforementioned methods, you can enable Two-factor authentication for your iCloud/Apple ID account.

After you turn on the Two-factor authentication, make sure that you:
  • Remember your Apple ID password.
  • Keep your trusted phone number(s) up to date.
  • Use a device passcode on all your devices.
  • Keep your trusted devices physically secure.
