How to set up and use Messages in iCloud?(iOS 11.4)

With the iOS 11.4 update, Apple bought a new feature, Messages in iCloud which allows you to treat your messages like photos in iCloud. You can backup your messages like you back up your pictures and free up space in your device and also you will be able to access those messages in future whenever you need them.

As your messages back up, they will sync through all of your iOS devices using the same iCloud account and it even works with Mac too, meaning that your messages will be accessible through all of Apple’s devices.

You can delete them from the original device but they will be available on iCloud Drive and you can access them anytime from any device.

Why should I use Messages in iCloud Messages feature?

iMessage syncing is already available and it is actually pretty good but it has its own limits and drawbacks.

As soon as you receive any new text, it will back up and sync to your other iOS devices and Mac but if you set up a new device then you won’t have your old messages.

If you set up a new iPhone from the backup of any previous iPhone then they will shift to that new iPhone. And, not to mention that each device backup its entire messages library separately which is a waste of space.

So, Messages sync works perfectly and it syncs your messages to all of your devices, stores all of your messages in a central spot and works like iCloud Photo Library meaning you can delete the messages from the device but they will still be available on the cloud.
