How to set up and use iCloud Photo Library?

Want to back up your photos and videos as you take them and sync them across all of your iOS devices? iCloud Photo Library service allows you to just do that and also free up your storage space too.

iCloud Photo Library is a service included with iCloud which allows you to back up every photo that you take or have taken to iCloud Drive and in addition, it also allows you to sync those photos and videos with your Apple devices such as iPhone, iPad, iPod, Mac, Apple Watch or TV assuming that you are using the same iCloud account.

iCloud Photo Library will save all the photos including Screenshots, GIFs, and videos too – and you can also free up the storage space on your device by sending the photos and videos to iCloud drive.

How to set up iCloud Photo Library on iPhone and iPad:

To set up iCloud Photo Library on your iPhone/iPad, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Settings > (Your Name) > iCloud.
  2. Tap on Photos.

  3. Tap on the slider next to the iCloud Photo Library to turn this feature on or off.
  4. If your device is synced with iTunes then you will be asked to remove the synced photos.

How to sync images with your other devices using iCloud Photo Library:

When you enable this feature, then all of the images will automatically get uploaded to the iCloud Drive and then eventually get synced with other iOS devices and Macs but if you want to speed up this process, then you can follow these steps.

  1. Go to Settings > (Your Name) > iCloud.
  2. Tap on Photos.

  3. Look for Upload to my Photo Stream, and tap on slider next to it to turn this feature on.

  4. Now, your photos and videos will be synced with other devices over Wi-Fi.

Now,  your photos and videos will be synced with other devices when connected to Wi-Fi.
